Mickey Mouse Fishing Cooler

Texas Craft House

With summer quickly coming to an end, I wanted to share the cooler I made for my Aunt at the beginning of the summer! There are three things my Aunt loves; Mickey Mouse, fishing, and beer!

One thing my Aunt Lori and I enjoy doing together is fishing. She has a large piece of property with a lake and two ponds full of fish. One day we were getting ready to go fishing, and I watched my Aunt make multiple trips from the house to the pond we were going to fish. She had to go get her pole and tackle, then get her cooler for beer, then a chair off the porch. I began thinking there had to be an easier way for her to get fishing! She shouldn’t have to work so hard to relax!!

First Anniversary Paper Gift Idea

Texas Craft House

Today is my third wedding anniversary and the gift theme is leather! Not wanting to be cliche about expensive and meaningless gifts I thought it would be fun to stay with the traditional wedding gift themes that were handmade or custom ordered. I’m sharing my year one gift with y’all! The traditional first anniversary gift theme is paper, I searched high and low for the best idea for a thoughtful gift to give to my husband that was’t too feminine or cheesy. I decided on maps cut into hearts of the places ‘We met, He proposed, & We Married.’ Travis and I met at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, he proposed to me in Riviera Maya, Mexico and we got married in Lucea, Jamaica! The ability to use three completely different maps is what really drew me to this project.

Texas Wreath

Elisabeth and I have had so much popularity with her Americana Wreath. We’ve blogged about it here, are selling it on Etsy and have even taught craft classesteaching people how to make it. Her use of burlap and ruffles to make the American Flag inspired me to recreate the Texas flag using the same technique. Here are some step by step pictures and instructions to tell you exactly how to make this fun, rustic, Texas wreath.

Wedding Date Sign

Texas Craft House

This weekend my sister and I went to the antique mall to look around. We passed by some fun looking wooden painted numbers that I instantly thought would be great to have in the master bedroom to signify an anniversary date. I dug through the tub and couldn’t find all numbers that I needed. Then the idea came to me to try and make my own numbers so we stopped at Michaels on the way home and grabbed everything I needed.
